ABOUT BASE AT SJSU

The Black Alliance of Scientists and Engineers (BASE) at San Jose State University (SJSU) is a chapter organization of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). BASE exists primarily for African American students who are fully matriculated at SJSU and are pursuing a degree in Engineering, Science, or Technology. However, BASE is open to any individual that shares its overall goals.

WHAT IS REGION VI

There are six regions in NSBE. BASE is located in Region 6. Region 6 consists of the following states: California, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, West Canada, Baha Mexico, Asia, South Pacific, and Australia.........We Are SIXY!

About National Society of Black Engineers

With more than 500 chapters and nearly 16,000 active members in the U.S. and abroad, the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) is one of the largest student-governed organizations based in the United States. NSBE, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1975, supports and promotes the aspirations of collegiate and pre-collegiate students and technical professionals in engineering and technology.  NSBE’s mission is "to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
